Koç University-Arçelik Electronics Center of Creative Industries (KUAR) has an exciting new 2 post-doctoral positions (1 software and 1 hardware specialist) available at the intersection of big data, machine learning, internet of things, gestural interaction and smart homes. The work will lead to next generation AI techniques that interact daily with end-users and increase their quality of life.
Required degree and specialization: We are looking for candidates with a PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering or any related field.

About Work and Environment:
The work includes data analysis from connected home appliances, human motion and gesture tracking from multiple cameras and sensors, learning user behaviors and preferences, and developing techniques for decision support such as to adjust temperature, order groceries, warn about anomalies, setup automatic reminders, alert first-responders in case of an emergency etc. The candidate will develop algorithms, analyze data from prototypes for smart home applications, and test it with real user experiments. The position will require experience in or willingness to learn about a combination of data collection from distributed sensors, big data storage and manipulation, data wrangling, most flavors of machine learning (e.g. deep learning, reinforcement learning, clustering), optimization, natural language processing, user testing and interaction design.
Work will be primarily performed at Koç University, Istanbul that is ranked 40th among the world’s young universities under 50 years old by the Times Higher Education’s university rankings. Koç University- Arçelik Electronics Center of Creative Industries (KUAR) offers excellent working space, technical workshops and prototyping facilities along with world-class faculty.
